Accountability can be difficult when problems arise and you’re on the other side of the globe.
Not having an immediate contact in your time zone and home country. It is difficult to address problems after your trophies arrive home and have already been paid for.

PROS
Work done back home by a taxidermist you know provides a greater level of comfort.World-class taxidermists back home may just be preferable to use, regardless of costs.
Managing issues back home may be easier to deal with.
Having your hides tanned in Africa, even if final mounting is to be completed at home, will save you time and money.
CONS
It will generally take much longer to receive your completed mounts, especially if you only opt for dipping and packing in Africa.
Completing the dipping & packing process for export from Africa requires four months; minimum three months in the dipping process before export. You’ll still need to have them tanned at home before mounting can begin.
Lack of familiarity with African species for less-experienced taxidermists.
Difficulty in resolving problems with hair slip once your trophies are back home.
